Luxury Electric Ride-On Cars for Kids
Understanding Licensed vs Unlicensed Versions
If you’re considering buying a luxurious ride-on car (such as BMW), you need to be aware of licensed and unlicensed ride-on cars/bikes.
An unlicensed ride-on toy looks similar to the licensed one except for a few differences.
- A licensed kids ride on car is made in partnership with the luxurious car company itself. So experts (from Lamborghini, Bentley or Mercedes Benz) are involved to create an exact replica of the vehicle, and so the styling attention to details is very good.
- A licensed kids car will have the logo (as on the real car) built into the kid’s car. An unlicensed kids car on the other hand may use a sticker logo or one that looks like the real thing but is slightly different.
- Some licensed kids ride-on car comes with rubber tires (instead of plastic) and stitched leather seats (instead of plastic).
So basically, the licensed version is a quality replica of the real car and everything it claims to be.
An unlicensed ride-on toy looks similar to the real one and will often be promoted using “style,” “lookalike” etc., but it won’t have any stickers or badges related to that brand.
A licensed toy will often make use of badges, stickers and styling that will look almost like the real thing (that is used in the actual BMW cars). Often, it is really difficult to distinguish between the toy and the real thing because of the attention to details.
A licensed car, jeep or bike is usually stated in the title or description of the product. If you don’t see one, then it’s very likely that it is not a licensed toy.
A licensed ride-on car/bike will also be slightly expensive compared to the unlicensed version.
There’s not going to be much of a difference in the build quality of both types of cars; they are going to have a similar build quality.
However, because the manufacturer will use badges and stickers (on the front grill or bonnet) on a licensed ride-on, it’s going to look a bit different and it may also have a bit more features than an Unlicensed one.
